One of the functions of the Highland Park Community Foundation is to assist citizens in our community by serving as a collection vehicle and funds manager for individual foundations and major projects. These Affiliated Funds are described below.

Jens Jensen Park Restoration

The Foundation partnered with the Friends of Jens Jensen Park and the Park District of Highland Park to enable the renovation of the park in the heart of Ravinia’s downtown district, across from the train station at St. Johns and Roger Williams.

Jensen, a Ravinia resident, designed the park in 1924, but over time, the original design was lost to modifications. When “Friends” was formed to raise funds for the restoration, the Foundation became the trustee so that donations to the project were tax deductible. The Foundation now manages the funds set aside for maintenance.

Niki L. Martin Scholarship Fund

The Niki L. Martin Scholarship Fund was established to honor a remarkable young woman’s memory in perpetuity while empowering other young women to pursue their dreams in journalism. The Fund awards a journalism scholarship each year to a female student from Highland Park High School.

Rosenblit Memorial Fund

This fund awards an annual grant to one or more of the Highland Park Community Foundation’s grant recipients in memory of Marcia Rosenblit, a former elementary school counselor at Sherwood School in Highland Park.

Josie Ann Lieber Fund

Provides funds for programs of organizations serving low income children and families in the Highland Park/Highwood community.
